FOOD REVOLUTION. Did you watch? It’s the british cutie Jamie Oliver, trying to transform the way families eat. It takes place in Huntington W. Virginia, America’s “most unhealthy city” and, foodie or non-foodie alike, it’s worth watching!!
Jamie actually talks about the American diet being a form of child abuse. Parents are taking years off their children’s lives by the way they feed them- leading to obesity, and then diabetes, kidney disease, cardiovascular disease etc. at young ages. We’re talking 9, 10, 11 years old. Maybe extremist, but maybe not. Either way, this is worth watching, if only to see kids cry when Jamie takes french fries off of their menu, or the ceremonial burying of a deep fryer, or the size of an obese person’s casket (you can watch that on Oprah) dayum.
Just to prove my feelings for Mr. Oliver, I chased him out of a food&wine festival a few years ago to chat. It was love (or maybe wine and an English accent). Here’s photographic evidence, although a silly ex got in the way, so it had to be cropped.
Cute. So, the show is 6 episodes on Friday nights, but luckily for you party animals, it’s also available on HULU. Here are the first two episodes that aired the other night: http://www.hulu.com/jamie-olivers-food-revolution
