Valentine’s Day: Heart-Shaped Bites

Happy Valentines Day!

Well as much as I love love, I think Dolly Parton said it best: “My weaknesses have always been food and men – in that order” – so we’ll skip the men for the time being even if I always have quite a bit to say on the topic. You’d probably never guess that my foodie weaknesses are NOT Sweetheart candies or giant chocolate boxes (duh) – but c’mon, nutritionist or not, wouldn’t you rather someone imply “Be Mine” with one of these more original, adorable (not to mention healthy) heart shaped bites? I knew you would.

1. Watermelon hearts

2. Heart Beet Rawvioli with Pesto Oil via My New Roots

3. Delicious Roasted Potatoes from Haniela’s

4. chicken soup with heart-shaped carrots from Sophistimom

5. How to make a heart shaped egg from Annathered

6. ‘My Heart Beets for You’ Roasted Beet Salad Recipe from Apron Strings

7. Heart-shaped banana pancakes (try it with a buckwheat or other whole grain pancake mix).

The best part is that any of these would be very well-received year round. And for your healthy hearts dessert: My friend Rachel and her mom (also a nutritionist!) made these adorable heart-shaped oatmeal raisin cookies from scratch:

How freaking cute are they? Other V-day  reads:

After all these edible hearts, for some crazy reason GaGa is stuck in my head singing “he ate my heart”.  How incredibly romantic… Happy valentines day <3

So are you running out to get a heart shaped cookie cutter ASAP or what? What are you going to make? and are you a v-day lover or hater?
