About Carolyn

Carolyn Brown MS, RD

I’m a science nerd, sometimes a yogi/runner, a reformed-crappy eater, and a wanna-be-locavore (I love pineapple and grapefruit too much). I’m also a quarter life crisis-er, but I suppose that’s for a different blog.

The goal of One Smart Brownie isĀ  to simplify the totally confusing world of nutrition. It’s also a “No Judgement Zone” (thx RA), so the more ridiculous or embarrassing nutrition questions, the better [Like, my first post ever: How many calories are in a Eucharist?]. I’m a huge believer that food should not be stressful or guilt-inducing. Eat the amazing chocolate chip cookies (no sugar free or fat free ’round here), and occasionally stay out too late with dirty martinis. But taste, and don’t inhale your food/drinks… and don’t complain about exercise.

In real life, I’m a nutritionist at an incredible private practice in NYC, Foodtrainers. The boring life history: Received my masters from NYU in Clinical Nutrition, completed my bachelors at Tulane in New Orleans. I also had a very cool abroad experience on Semester at Sea which lead me into nutrition. More on that at Story Of My Life.

You can read more of my writing at OneResult, the Foodtrainers Blog, and soon, WebMD. Enjoy and hopefully you will find something that changes your life, in which case you should absolutely come visit me. So ladies and gents, eat your veggies and email your questions, comments, concerns to carolyn.brownie@gmail.com. xo
